What does converting Excel to CSV mean?

Converting a spreadsheet to CSV means saving its data as plain text, one row per line, with the columns separated by a character such as a semicolon or a comma. Formatting and colors are lost, but you get a file that any program can import.

It is the format that online stores, accounting systems, databases and email marketing tools ask for when importing information.

    • Formulas are exported with their calculated result.
    • If your workbook has several sheets, choose "all" to get them in a ZIP.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between comma and semicolon CSV?

Only the character that separates the columns. Spanish-language Excel usually uses semicolons; many English systems expect commas.

    What is UTF-8 with BOM?

It is UTF-8 with a leading mark that helps Excel show accents and special characters correctly when opening the file.

    Are formulas kept?

CSV does not support formulas, so the calculated result of each one is saved.

Can I convert every sheet of a workbook?

Yes. Choose "all sheets" and you will get a ZIP with one CSV per sheet.

    Are my files stored?

No. The conversion happens in your browser: files are never uploaded to this site or stored on any server.
